Creative Ink

2023

As part of a class (COMD 355), team members (“Inkers”) take on roles in design, photography, videography, copywriting, and account management.
Creative Ink provides its services pro bono, allowing students to gain real experience without financial burden on clients.

Team Mural:

One of the projects I contributed to was the creation of a vinyl mural. I was involved throughout the entire production process, beginning with preparing the digital design files and formatting each section for clean cutting. Once the designs were finalized,  the Cricut was used to cut the vinyl. This turned into the hands-on phase of weeding. After all pieces were weeded and organized,

I helped apply transfer tape, align each segment, and install the mural on-site. The process blended digital preparation with tactile craftsmanship, and it was rewarding to see the design transition from screen to a finished, large-scale installation.

Music Video:

I participated in storyboarding, refining the aesthetic style, and planning out the visual motifs that would carry the project. During production, the Creative Ink team worked filming scenes, adjusting lighting, capturing dynamic shots, and problem-solving on set. After filming, we moved into editing, color, and sound refinement, ensuring the final video was cohesive, engaging, and matched the client’s vision.

Real World Experiences:

Creative Ink helped prepare me for real-world client work by giving me hands-on experience with actual projects, deadlines, and expectations. Working directly with community partners taught me how to communicate clearly, adapt to feedback, and develop design solutions that meet real needs. It offered a practical, collaborative environment where I could build confidence, strengthen my skills, and understand what it means to create meaningful work for real clients.
